NewFrom Floodlights to Daylight: Another Round of Export Loading at NORTH LAB
Published

Loading, Whatever the Hour
NORTH LAB has loaded another five containers of medical equipment and supply products. The five photos on this page show one container each: two that were filled after dark under floodlights and three that were filled in daylight, so the whole shipment can be counted at a glance.
Loading does not always follow office hours. Trucks and containers arrive when transport allows, and the team works through the evening when the schedule asks for it. What stays the same, whatever the hour, is the way each container is built: cartons stacked from the back wall forward, one level row at a time, with nothing left loose at the door.
Two Containers Loaded After Dark
The first two containers were loaded at night. Their empty interiors were photographed before any carton went in, then the cartons were stacked row by row from the far wall, with a small team at the doorway to keep every row square. The first container was filled with cartons stacked directly on the floor; the second carried a wrapped pallet alongside its cartons.
Working in artificial light calls for extra care, so each layer was checked against the one below it before the next was added. A level stack stays put on the road, and on a night shift that matters more than speed.
Three Containers Loaded in Daylight
In daylight the work was easier to see. The third container was filled with large cartons, banded and stacked up to the roof. The fourth was loaded with the help of a forklift, which carried cartons on pallets to the door so they could be stacked without lifting by hand. The fifth was packed from floor to roof and left ready for its doors to be closed.
Once each container was full, its doors were closed and a seal was fitted to the door handle. Close-up photos of the seals were taken for the shipping record, so the container can be matched to its paperwork when it arrives.
